Are You Asking the Right Question in Life?

Life is not about the right answers. Life is about the right questions. The beauty of life is then creating your answer.

We get caught up in misleading goals in life. They stem from our unconscious monkey model of the world. The monkey is content for the moment, but are not enough for a meaningful life

Do you want to be liked? Everybody does. But is that enough to make your life great? We want to be liked because social exclusion meant death in the 190,000 years of forager tribes. It’s survival. But you can never control what other people do. Seeking their validation is a fool’s errand, it makes you a victim.

Do you want to be happy? Ironically chasing happiness makes you unhappy. Happy is not something you attain. Happy happens when you are working towards meaningful goals

Powerful? Important? They are validation from others. Selfish. If you seek power and attention to feed your ego, you are a hamster in a wheel. The ego is adaptive: it recalibrates and always wants more. You become Sisyphus, attain power and attention only to find that you need ever more.

Successful? Great, but what does that mean? Is it power? Or maybe is it providing value to society? Now you are on to something. But unfortunately our collective perception of success is again selfish. It’s the…
